A harvest for the next generation of enologists

Written by Alessandro Rivetto on 20 October 2016

A Barolo from Serralunga d’Alba goes to school. 2016 was a truly special vintage for our winery.

Not only did the grapes ripen perfectly, a sign that our wines will be rich in aromas and structure, but this year we will take part in an exciting initiative.

Part of the nebbiolo harvested from the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba that is usually reserved for the production of our most prestigious Barolo labels will be part of this new venture.

A former teacher of Alessandro, Professor Vincenzo Barbaro, requested grapes for an educational project for the prestigious School of Enology of Alba (where Alessandro himself graduated).

We provided him with several quintals of these precious grapes.

We will be collaborating to give one of their most promising students the chance to vinify a great Barolo di Serralunga and compare it to the wines that are already traditionally produced by the School of Enology and by alumni working in vineyards in Grinzane Cavour.

We can’t wait to go “back to school”, see the old classrooms and immerse ourselves in the familiar atmosphere, working alongside the next wine generation and with several well-known, not quite so fresh-faced friends.

We’ll get to taste the results of our collaboration in 2020!
